This software is unaffiliated: it is not operated by or endorsed by Newport Harbor High School or the Newport-Mesa Unified School District. It has not been independently audited against WCAG 2.1 Level AA. The checks below run on every build; a full audit of every enabled workflow, on the website and in the iOS app, is planned before any district activation and has not happened yet.
The standard we are working to
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, for the website and the iOS app. That is the technical standard the Department of Justice's rule under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act sets for state and local government web content and mobile apps, including content a public entity provides through a vendor.
What is checked on every build
- Color contrast. Every text and non-text color pairing in the design tokens is measured against WCAG 2.1 contrast ratios before a build is accepted, including negative tests that keep the district navy fill-only because it does not pass as text.
- Reflow. Every public route is opened in a real browser at 375 pixels wide and the build fails if the page scrolls sideways (WCAG 1.4.10).
- Focus visibility. The focus ring color is chosen and measured to clear the 3:1 floor for non-text contrast (WCAG 1.4.11).
- Reduced motion. Animation is disabled when the operating system asks for reduced motion.
What has not been checked
- No end-to-end audit with assistive technology (screen readers, switch access, voice control) has been performed on either the website or the iOS app.
- No automated rules engine runs against rendered pages in the build. Contrast and reflow are measured; heading structure, form labeling, and name, role and value of custom controls are not yet.
- Documents the app links to (schedules, clearance forms) are the school's own and are not covered by this statement.
When the audit is done, this page will name what it covered, the release it was run against, and what was found and fixed.
If something does not work for you

Updates to this statement
If what is checked changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves.
