29 CIF Southern Section titles across the 4 programs this build has checked — a partial ledger, not Newport Harbor High School's whole record. 23 programs have not been checked yet. Every title on this page is traced to a CIF Southern Section record, and the claims that do not survive checking are listed too, rather than quietly dropped.
Grouped by sport rather than listed by year, because that is the question a record board is asked. Of the programs checked, Boys Water Polo has the most, with 15. Titles are filed under the calendar year the championship was played, which for winter and spring sports is the second year of the school year.

No regional or CIF State title appears here. That is not a record of none: the section below says what this build has and has not checked.
Only four programs were checked against the CIF-SS records PDFs: boys and girls water polo (through 2024), boys volleyball (through 2019) and football (through 2022). Every other program is unchecked — a gap in retrieval, not a confirmed zero — and regional and state titles were not checked at all. A 2025 boys water polo Open Division title is reported by SportStars but post-dates the CIF-SS record and is not counted.
Not yet checked: girls volleyball, boys cross country, girls cross country, girls flag football, field hockey, girls golf, girls tennis, boys basketball, girls basketball, boys soccer, girls soccer, boys wrestling, girls wrestling, baseball, softball, boys golf, boys lacrosse, girls lacrosse, boys tennis, boys swimming & diving, girls swimming & diving, boys track & field and girls track & field. A program on this list may well hold titles; this build has simply not read its records.
| Claim | Status | What the record shows |
|---|---|---|
| ClaimThe 2023 game was the 61st Battle of the Bay | Statusdisputed | What the record showsThe 2022 game was also billed as the 61st installment. Both cannot be right, and this build does not number the series. |
| ClaimThe Robbins-Loats Performing Arts Center | Statusunverified | What the record showsThat is the name the district’s own performing-arts workbook uses, and the bookings here come from that workbook. The school’s About page writes "Robbins/Loats building" and a contractor’s page "Robins Hall – Loats Theater"; no school page uses the workbook’s phrase. |
| ClaimThe pool is the Bill Barnett Aquatics Center | Statusunverified | What the record showsSeen only in a search summary; both aquatics sites refused the request. The district calls it the Newport Harbor High School Aquatics Complex, and that is the name used here. |
Each is listed rather than quietly resolved, because a corrected claim is only worth anything if the thing it corrected is visible.

6 section titles
Six Southern Section titles from 1999 to 2022, the last in the Open Division.
4 section titles
Four Southern Section titles through 2019, the last year of the record that was checked.

Four Southern Section titles — 1994, 1999, 2005 and 2021.
Davidson Field
Named for Sidney Davidson, the school’s first principal
The football stadium, named for the school’s first principal. The district’s rental listing describes lights, a scoreboard, home and visitor grandstands and an eight-lane track around a turf field. No seating capacity is published. Corona del Mar has used it for varsity home football as a tenant.
Ralph K. Reed Gymnasium
Named as a facility in the school’s CIF-SS calendar. The school’s About page calls it only "the main gym", and mentions a separate Girls Gym.
Newport Harbor High School Aquatics Complex
Home water for water polo and swimming and diving. The About page records an earlier pool, the A.H. Fitzpatrick Pool.
A new 8-foot-deep competition pool and deck, under construction from August 2024 with completion expected in fall 2025, per the district’s facility updates. No source found says whether it has opened.
Robbins-Loats Performing Arts Center
The name the district’s performing-arts workbook gives Newport Harbor’s theater, whose calendar this build reads. A contractor’s project page describes the building as Robins Hall – Loats Theater with a 500-seat theater; the spelling and the capacity are both unconfirmed by the school.
Newport Harbor High School opened in 1930, 36 years before the district it now belongs to was formed. Newport-Mesa Unified was formed in 1966 by the unification of the Newport Beach and Costa Mesa elementary districts with the Newport Harbor Union High School District. Newport Harbor had opened thirty-six years earlier.
Every document below is a source this build read — the CIF Southern Section’s records and schedule, the school’s own pages, the district’s calendar and NCES — each with its own date, because they were not produced together. Nothing on this page is generated, which makes it the only page in this build that is sourced end to end.
